Club Nomadic announces transportation and traffic plan for Super Bowl events
Nomadic Entertainment officials announced Monday their transportation and traffic flow plan for the three nights where arts, culture and entertainment will descend on Houston leading up to the Super Bowl.
Club Nomadic is a 62,500-square-foot, multi-level nightclub that has transformed the Sawyer Yards Art District, off Edwards Street, into the "must-attend" spot for entertainment in Houston.
Working closely with the city of Houston as well as the local police department, Club Nomadic said it has designed a plan that minimizes the impact on the local community and residents of the Washington Avenue Arts District while providing a first-class experience for all guests Thursday through Saturday.
During all three nights of the event, Edwards Street, between Sawyer and Silver, will be closed to through traffic from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. General admission guest parking is located at the 1600 Smith Garage, 1600 Smith St., accommodating up to 2,500 vehicles. Free shuttle service will be provided from the 1600 Smith Garage with drop-off at Silver and Edwards streets, a short block away from Club Nomadic. Shuttle pick-up following the event, returning to the 1600 Smith Garage, will be located on Silver Street between Edwards and Dart streets.
General admission guests must utilize either public transportation such as taxis and Uber ride-share services or the shuttle system. There is no public parking at Club Nomadic. Drop-off for these services will be located on Silver Street between Bingham and Winter streets. Uber pick-up, post-event, will be directly in front of the venue on Edwards Street, while all other pick-ups will be directed to Silver Street, between Bingham and Winter streets.
There will be "no parking" signs posted throughout the entire area around the venue: Spring Street south to Center Street and Sawyer east to Houston.
There will be no parking in these areas in order to allow pedestrians to safely pass through and get to the venue. Many of the streets are very narrow and do not have sidewalks. Towing will be heavily enforced.
Additionally, Nomadic Entertainment will activate six electronic message boards throughout the perimeter of the venue to direct event-goers to the appropriate route. Houston police and flaggers will be on-site directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic to ensure the safety of all event-goers.
